Spending 1000.00 for decent lighting really isn't an option for many of us. Fortunately there is an alternative
The Godox SL60W is a great inexpensive light that can be purchased for about 120.00 to 140.00 USD depending on where yo buy it (eBay seems to have the best pricing here ) but how well does the light hold up?
Brigtness
This light is extremely bright! Lots of output power and controllable all the way down to 1% which is fantastic. Now down in the lower range it does start to flicker a bit but is only noticeable when shooting at shutter speeds of over 1000. At 100% this light is blindingly bright and will light an entire room easily.
Color rendition:
While they state that the color rendition is 95% or higher I have found that to be pretty true. The light dome I use tends to cut the kelvin from 5600 to about 5300 because its a cheaper dome but a simple slight adjustment to the white balance on the camera and its taken care of.

All in all I think this is the best alternative to buying an Aputure 120d. For the same amount of money you could buy 2 or 3 of these and several light modifiers and still have some money left over...
Cheers
